Timber–concrete composite (TCC) construction may be used to improve the performance of structural timber floor systems. The combination of timber and concrete results in improved floor performance by providing greater strength and stiffness, increased thermal mass, and better acoustic separation.

Replacing solid timber with glued laminated timber or laminated veneer lumber (LVL) provides a more effective solution for long-span floors. Design codes require serviceability checks to ensure that floor vibrations remain within acceptable limits.

Forced vibration tests were conducted using an electrodynamic shaker to measure the natural frequencies and damping ratios of experimental specimens.
