1993. Recommendations for the acceptance of post-tensioning systems (PDF)
In March 1981, FIP published the Recommendations for Acceptance and Application of Post-Tensioning Systems. Having been valid for over ten years, the original document was no longer felt to reflect the state of the art, and the publication of this revision became necessary. This document is the result of a joint effort by FIP Commission 2 – Prestressing Materials and Systems – and Commission 4 – Practical Construction.
FIP carried out this task as an established international body, acting not only as a rationalising authority concerned with the codification of acceptance and quality assurance requirements for post-tensioning systems, but also to assist regional committees of standardisation and the construction industry in general, for example the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA).
These Recommendations define the performance requirements, testing procedures, and quality assurance requirements necessary to make all post-tensioning systems safe and acceptable on a worldwide basis. Although users of post-tensioning systems may fully comply with these Recommendations, the necessity of using appropriately qualified and experienced engineers in the supervision of post-tensioning work must be emphasized.
I express my thanks to all the members of the Working Group, but particularly to its Chairman, Professor Rostásy, for preparing this document, which I commend to you.
