The initiative for establishing a Working Group on specifications for post-tensioning work was taken because several members of our Commissions experienced difficulties in their daily work when dealing with specifications that vary considerably from one project to another and from country to country. It was therefore decided that guidance for the preparation of specifications would be helpful for the specification writer and subsequently for contractors and subcontractors.

This Guide provides the specification writer with a checklist of items that need to be addressed, both from a technical and commercial point of view. As such, it covers the supply and installation of prestressing materials primarily used for ordinary grouted post-tensioning systems in prestressed concrete structures.

In my opinion, these recommendations represent a useful tool for post-tensioning practice. I wish to thank the Chairman and the members of the Working Group for their valuable efforts.
