The volume contains the extended abstracts presented at the workshop on “Capacity Assessment of Corroded Reinforced Concrete Structures: from Research to Daily Engineering Evaluation – CACRCS Days 2023”. The workshop was organized at the University of Parma, Italy, from 13 to 15 September 2023.

The event was co-organized by CTE – Collegio Tecnici dell’Industrializzazione Edilizia, AICAP – Associazione Italiana Calcestruzzo Armato e Precompresso, and fib – The International Federation for Structural Concrete, and supported by Clust-ER Build, AIM – Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia, ATE – Associazione Tecnologi per l’Edilizia, Reluis – Consorzio della Rete dei Laboratori Universitari di Ingegneria Sismica e Strutturale, the University of Parma, Politecnico di Milano, the fib Italy Young Members Group, the Consiglio Superiore dei Lavori Pubblici of Italy, and the Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Parma.

Special thanks are due to Lorenzo Franceschini, Olha Palii, and the fib Italy Young Members Group, who assisted during the organization of this event. The support of the sponsors is also greatly appreciated. The workshop was organized thanks to the contribution of the members of the organizing and scientific committees, from different countries, universities, institutions, and private design studios.

CACRCS Days 2023 focuses on practical engineering applications achieved through consolidated research on corroded reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structures. The opening keynote lectures addressed the state of codes and practice in this field. Jesús Rodríguez, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Chairman of the Spanish Mirror Group for Eurocode 2, presented the new version of Eurocode 2, focusing on provisions for corroded concrete structures and how they can be extended for appropriate structural evaluation. Alberto Gennari Santori and Luca Righetti (ANAS S.p.a., Italy) described the procedures adopted for special inspections of bridge decks with post-tensioned concrete elements.
