No. 42. - Performance-Based Approaches for Concrete Structures - 14th fib Symposium Proceedings - 21-23 November 2016 - Cape Town, South Africa PDF format
These proceedings summarise the papers presented at the fib Symposium 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. The symposium’s theme relates to performance-based approaches for concrete structures. Authors come from 45 countries and from a wide range of research and industrial organisations.
The majority of papers deal with the structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete members and structures. Specialised topics include bridge structures, precast technology, fibre-reinforced concrete, and structures exposed to seismic loading. Further topics relate to the broad fields of concrete materials technology, concrete durability, service-life modelling, condition assessment and repair of concrete structures, and structural strengthening.
All papers submitted to the fib Symposium 2016 were subjected to a full peer-review process, and the proceedings contain only those papers that were accepted following this process. The manuscripts were reviewed by members of the International Scientific Advisory Board and other leading experts, who independently assessed one or more assigned manuscripts. This invaluable assistance, which has greatly enhanced the quality of the proceedings, is gratefully acknowledged.
I would like to express my gratitude to the authors of the papers in this book and hope that they will continue to be interested in performance-based design and specifications for concrete structures. I trust that these proceedings will not only prove to be a valuable reference for researchers and engineers working in the fields of concrete technology and structural concrete, but will also provide a suitable basis for discussion and suggest directions for future research and development.
