N°190. 1988. CEB-FIP Model Code 1990 - First Predraft - Vol. 1

According to the Resolution No 1 of the 24th CEB Plenary Session (Rotterdam , 1985), the pre sent CEB-FIP Model Code include s general guidance covering all concrete structure s. However , the detailed specifications included in this Code are directly applicable to the most common type s of structure s, i.e. living and commercial buildings. 

For the application of the present Mode l Code to other type s of structures (e .g. dams , towers , containment vessels , pavements , etc) , additional guidance documents are needed. 

Furthermore this Mode l Code limits its scope to operational guidance f or concrete structure s under usual actions; detailed guidance for design and construction of concrete structure s under accidental actions resulting from hazard scenarios caused by earthquakes , fire , explosions , impact will be given in special Mode l Codes . In this re spect, this Code will be supplemented by corresponding Mode l Code s for seismic and fire design . 

The application of the present Code shall be entrusted only to personnel who possess the necessary technical knowledge and qualifications . 

Besides , the fulfillment of the requirements may be achieved alterna­tively by means of mode ls other than those proposed in the Code , provi­ded that there is adequate relevant evidence in the literature .
