N°200. 1992. A Guide to the Comité Euro-International du Béton - Scope, Present Activities and Future Prospects
The first CEB Bulletin d'Information having been published in 1957, N2 100 appeared in 1974. It was at that time also giving some information on the composition of the various Commissions and Task Groups and their objectives. Since then information on the development of working programmes, results and membership has been published from time to time in CEB-NEWS.
When at the beginning of 1991 the serial numbers of Bulletins d'Information reached 200, CEB was just restructuring its Commissions and Task Groups, thus re-arranging the collaboration of old members and attracting new specialists to work on newly defined tasks. Also the secretariat has faced in recent years increasing demands from inside and outside CEB for more and more information on its work, organisational and statutory aspects, membership, addresses, etc.
The idea of satisfying all these needs by editing a 'Guide to CEB' suggested itself. It is primarily meant to inform the members of the various bodies in CEB, not only the Commissions and Task Groups but also the National Delegations and the members of the Advisory Committee. For preparation of its meeting during this autumn the latter will in fact need the information on the current 'Working Programmes'. These are the most recent 'snapshot' of the present situation at the time of writing. ln the true tradition of CEB they are to be taken as a working paper in itself and will as such, hopefully, raise comments and lead to discussions. My thanks are due to all chairmen, convenors and members who contributed to their compilation.
It is hoped that the further information given in this guide is of value to members of, and friends outside, CEB. It seems evident that such a guide has to be revised from time to time. This should possibly be done every three to five years, whereas single chapters may be up-dated whenever necessary and will be published in CEB-NEWS.
