N°193. 1989. Special Session Dubrovnik; Design Aspects of High Strength Concrete.

Since the 24th Plenary Session in Rotterdam 1985 it has become a habit to devote one afternoon to two parallel discussion sessions on selected topics introduced briefly by invited speakers . From the beginning it was felt, however, that these interesting events required some recording for the information of the respective participants for those who joined the parallel discussion or for CEB-members who could not participate at all . 

During the 26th CEB Plenary Session Dubrovnik the two selected topics were "Design Aspects of High Strength Concrete" ( Session IV A) and "Modelling of Structural Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete in Computer Programs" ( Session IV B) . In partial fulfilment of the Technical Resolution N° 6, passed in Dubrovnik (cf . to CEB-News N° 83), the contributions to the aspects of high strength concrete design are compiled in this volume together with the available contributions to the discussion . 

Whereas predominantly CEB 's Bulletins d 'Information present only material which has been prepared by Commissions or General Task Groups, i.e. which has been "filtered" by a process of harmonisation, for the above mentioned special discussion sessions introductory speakers from outside of CEB are invited as well . The contributions published here reflect, therefore, to a certain extent personal views . They were highly appreciated, however, as a stimulus for discussions and as a presentation of new perspectives . The additional efforts of all speakers to provide a written contribution based on their oral presentation as well as the preparatory work and chairmanship of the sessions technical coordinators are gratefully acknowledged .
