N°171 Special Sessions Rotterdam: "New Concepts in Detailing" + "Quality Control".
During the preparation of the 24th CEB-Plenary Session Rotterdam, June 1985, the idea was born to modify slightly the traditional sequence of technical sessions, by devoting one half-day to free discussions on selected topics which would be introduced briefly by invited speakers. For the Rotterdam Plenary Session the two genera! topics chosen were "Detailing" and "Quality Control" which lead to two parallel events. Whereas in normal technical sessions the material discussed is predominantly prepared by Commissions or Genera! Task Groups, the organisation of the above mentioned two "special discussion sessions" enabled their technical coordinators to invite also experts from outside the CEB as introductory speakers if this was felt to stimulate discussions or to introduce alternative perspectives.
The reactions of participating CEB-members , received after the Plenary Session by the CEB Permanent Secretariat were encouraging and should lead to simi lar endeavours in the future . It was felt , however, that the newly created and very stimulating parallelism of such interesting events required some sort of record ing for the information of the respective participants and for those CEB-members who could not participate in the Plenary Session at all .
This Bulletin d'Information is meant , therefore , as a summing up of the principal issues of the discussions, serving at the same time as an input to the ongoing revision process of the Mode l Code . The necessary additional ef forts of the sessions' technical coordinators are gratefully acknowledged .
