N°174. 1986. Model Code for Fire Design of Concrete Structures.
In January 1982 the farmer FIP Commission on Fire Resistance presented the preliminary draft of an appendix for the CEB-FIP Model Code, "Design of Concrete Structures for Fire Resistance" CEB Bulletin d'Information No. 145) . At the end of 1982 the CEB General Task Group No. 4 "Fire Design of Concrete Structures" has been established with the task to present a reorganized and further developed version of that preliminary draft.
The present improved version follows the guidelines - safety concept, system of limit states, design format partial safety factor format - of MC 78 , but it should now be understood as an independent paper with the contents self contained and understandable. The development of MC 90 will carefully be observed, and as far as it will cause the need of modifications they will be incorporated in the final version of the Model Code on Fire Design of Concrete Structures.
As far as composite members are concerned reference is given to the publications of ECCS.
With respect to the problems treated in the paper which may possibly not be common knowledge of practising engineers nor of the authorities, it has been thought necessary to give more basic informations, explanations and comments than it would normally be the case in a code. The General Task Group No. 4 would appreciate to know the official opinion of CEB as well as comments of the intended users, concerning the present layout and contents of the Model Code.
The members of CEB-General Task Group Nr. 4. are responsible for the contents of the present paper.
