No. 70. Conceptual Design of Structures (2025) - Proceedings of the International fib Symposium - 14-16 May 2025 - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil PDF format
It is with great honour and pleasure that we present the proceedings of the International Symposium on Conceptual Design of Concrete Structures, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 14 to 16 May 2025.
Structural design has been continuously refined over the years, and its conceptual foundations have been systematically developed within the framework of the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib). Designing is not only a matter of calculations and drawings; it requires a deep understanding of structural behaviour to ensure successful execution.
Each region of the world presents unique challenges, requiring structural designers to have a thorough understanding of local conditions so that region-specific natural phenomena can be appropriately considered in structural design.
In this context, the symposium aims to bring together young professionals from around the globe, fostering broad discussion on the conceptual approach to structural design and its application in buildings, industrialised construction, infrastructure, and existing structures—the main themes of this edition.
This event brings together experienced professionals and emerging generations, creating a valuable exchange between technical expertise and innovative thinking, with the aim of combining the best of both worlds.
Our goal is for all participants to benefit from this exchange of ideas, methods, and design techniques. The papers presented in these proceedings have been peer reviewed by the Technical Committee, composed of experts, members of the fib Technical Council, and representatives of the Brazilian technical-scientific community.
