1977. Recommendation for the design of concrete sea structures - 3rd edition
The first edition of the Recommendations for the Design of Concrete Sea Structures was published in October 1973 and was based on decisions taken in Tbilisi, Georgia, following the FIP Symposium on Concrete Sea Structures.
At the FIP Seventh Congress in New York in May 1974, Mr. J. A. Derrington was appointed Chairman of the Concrete Sea Structures Commission. Recommendations for additional sections on construction and installation, as well as inspection and repair, were discussed and approved, together with modifications to the design section arising from experience gained from the application of the first edition in practice, particularly in relation to developments in the North Sea. The bibliography was also revised and updated, and the second edition was published in November 1974.
Extensive use of this document has been made by all those engaged in modern offshore construction for oil and gas production. Based on practical experience, it has been possible to formulate more detailed recommendations for the design and construction of structures for use worldwide, including recommendations for seismic areas, and these are now included in this edition.
The President and Administrative Council of FIP recommend these proposals for international acceptance.
