1998. Qualification and approval of prestressing contractors and system suppliers
FIP Commission 2, Prestressing Materials and Systems, contributes to the objectives of FIP through the continuous development and dissemination of information on prestressing technology. The successful application of this technology is not only facilitated by scientific and technical advancements, but also requires the execution of proper procedures on site by skilled and qualified personnel.
These recommendations address in particular this latter aspect. They aim to be an important step towards internationally accepted rules, which allow independent qualification and approval of prestressing specialists, both in terms of organisation and personnel to carry out prestressing work, and in terms of prestressing systems.
I wish to express my sincere thanks to all the members of the Working Group, and in particular to its Chairman, Mr Hans Rudolf Müller, for preparing these recommendations. I also extend my thanks to Mr P. Matt and Dr W. Podolny for their most valuable comments during the final review of these recommendations. I am confident that these recommendations will be highly appreciated by authorities and owners concerned with the approval of prestressing specialists.
H. R. Ganz
Chairman
