N°185. 1987. Special Sessions Treviso: "Plain and Slightly Reinforced Concrete Structures"; "Fatigue".
For the 24th CEB Plenary Session in Rotterdam , June 1985 , the traditional course of technical sessions was , for the first time , slightly modified by devoting one afternoon to two events in parallel with free discussions on selected topics which were briefly introduced by invited speakers . In view of the favourable reception of this new type of sessions the CEB Administrative Council had decided to arrange for similar events in the course of the 25th
CEB Plenary Session in Treviso , May 1987 .
This time the two selected topics were "Plain an d Slightly Reinforced Concrete Structures " (Session IV A) and "Fatigue " (Session IV B). Both of them dealt with subj ects which are not sufficiently covered by the old Model Code 7 8 and are therefore of primary relevance for the revised version presently in preparation . Apart from presenting interesting information in general , it was meant to provide also valuable input as well as back-up material for the new code .
The course of the special sessions followed again the successful scheme of the Rotterdam exercise. To comply with the needs of many participants , who could only attend one of the parallel events alternatively , an almost complete record of the presentations , amended by a summing up of the principal is sues of the discus sions , is compiled in this Bulletin as information for those who could not participate in the respective session .
The additional effort of all speakers in providing us with a contribution to this Bulletin as well as the preparatory work and chairmanship of the sessions ' technical coordinators are gratefully acknowledged .
