N° 21.1960. Rapport des travaux de la Commission CEB “Hyperstatique”

The Commission will meet for the first time in Rome in January 1960. The contents of this Bulletin therefore will only give an impression of the work in hand and a preliminary indication of the conclusions which the Commission is likely to recommend finally. It is, however, not too early to say that, in regard to basic concepts, all those who have submitted papers for discussion are agreed. The general elastic equations for bending moments in frames which are based on the compatibility of deformation of continuous structures still apply at the ultimate stage of loading, provided terms are included for plastic deformations. The moment-curvature relationship of frame members varies according to the characteristics of the member.
