N° 107.1975. Manuel "Sécurité des Structures" Concepts généraux - Charges et Actions 2ème partie

The present Manual for the Safety of Structures was prepared by Mr Henri Mathieu, Technical Co-Director of the CEB and senior official of SETRA within the French Ministère de l’Équipement.

It is clearly a substantial document, presented here in French with an abbreviated English version that was published earlier in CEB Bulletin No. 102.

This Manual extends beyond the scope of both series currently in preparation. It is not only an explanatory text to be read in conjunction with the existing International Recommendations, but also a fundamental document for the proposed Code on the Safety of Structures, to be included in the International System of Standard Codes being developed in cooperation with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

This system is intended to cover the principal methods of civil engineering construction, such as concrete, steel, timber, etc. It will also provide the basis for the harmonization of Codes of Practice and Building Regulations in Europe—an objective of considerable urgency.
