N° 141.1981. CEB-FIP Manual on Bending and Compression - Design of Sections under Axial Action Effects at the Ultimate Limit State.

At the first meeting of the new Commission V it was decided to form a Working Group charged with the elaboration of a manual "Cracking -Deformation'' . This group, initially consisting of Messrs . A.W. Beeby , .H. Falkner and myself was later jointed by Messrs . M. Koprna and P. Schiessl . 

During its work the group has called on the expertise of Messrs. W. Moosecker (Pavia , Munich) for deformations caused by shear (chaf· 3.5) and P. Marti (Zurich) for deformations under torsion { chap. 3.6). We are grateful to them for this assistance and for the rapidity with which they assimilnted the line of the basic theory, given in chapter 1 in their responses. 

The numerous meetings of the working group were usuall attended by Messrs. M. Wicke , A. Holmberg (Pres ident , Vice-President of Commission V) and G. Thielen (Technical Director of CEB) . We grateful recognise their great contribution to the realisation of this bulletin as well as that of the whole of Commission V and , in particular Messrs . T. Brondum-Nielsen and J, Schlaich for their constructive criticism .
