The work of Commission II (Hyperstatic Structures) in the period 1972–1976 is collected in CEB Bulletins Nos. 101 and 105.

The background to Chapters 7 and 8 of the Model Code (“Determination of Actions”; “Structures Composed of Linear Elements”) can be found in these documents, particularly with regard to nonlinear analysis and linear analysis with redistribution.

A considerable amount of further work carried out for the definition of the relevant clauses of the Model Code does not appear in these bulletins.

In the present Bulletin, together with a state-of-the-art review and a programme of actions for the practical dissemination of nonlinear analysis procedures, it has been considered useful to present in detail the nonlinear solutions of the trial and comparison calculations developed and discussed by the Commission.
